Emily Peers of Presque Isle has joined the Maine Community Foundation’s Aroostook County Committee.
MaineCF’s county and regional committees comprise community members who live or work in the region and serve as ambassadors for the foundation, sharing their knowledge and providing on-the-ground leadership for the foundation.
Peers is a licensed cosmetologist, homemaker and volunteer with East of Eden Stables. She lives with her husband and two children.
Other committee members include Carol Bell, Bryan Thompson and Jane Towle of Presque Isle; Frank McElwain of Caribou; Grace O’Neil of Limestone; and Rob Moran, Jared Tapley and Jane Torres of Houlton.
The Aroostook County Committee’s volunteer advisors review grant proposals for MaineCF’s Community Building Grant Program and recommend grant awards from the Aroostook County Fund.
Community Building supports a broad range of projects and organizations across the state, including arts, education, environment, economic development and human services. In 2024, the Aroostook County Fund awarded 12 grants totaling nearly $88,000.
